About Us

The Biometrics and Breeding Informatics (BBI) group provides research support, consultation, and training to IRRI and national agricultural research programs. It conducts research in close collaboration with other research programs, universities, other research centers and institutes of excellence around the world.

Training and consultation

Enhances the capacity of IRRI researchers and their collaborators in adopting efficient experiment and/or genetic designs and statistical methods through consultation and training.

Conducts research in analyzing plant breeding trials, gene mapping (linkage and association mapping), estimation of genetic parameters, breeding value prediction, genomic selection and optimization of breeding schemes.

Software development

Develops user-friendly software tools for data collection and management, statistical and genetic analysis and the design of efficient conventional and molecular breeding strategies.
